All About Color Riot

I was a blogger in the beginning and then height of the blogosphere back in 2006. I cannot believe that it is back! It's been a while since I've stretched these fingers, so please be patient as I find my way back.
Color Riot started out as a dream. I've always been connected to art. It was the easiest way to express myself when I didn't have the words. It was immersive, meditative, and allowed me to breathe. It wasn't ever about being "good" at art. It was simply because I enjoyed it.
As I got older, the feeling never left. When my eldest was born, I took up quilting (yes, quite a hobby to pick up at the newborn stage). As she grew, I loved sharing my creativity with her. We did crafts, we drew and I made up sticker activities. It became a respite for both of us. I began to seek out more opportunities. I held art classes for preschoolers and worked in my local art center for years. After being a military spouse for over a decade, we moved. After some big, big changes, I went after what I really wanted: art. Color Riot lived in my head for ages, but now was the time to put in real effort. I jumped straight in, experience be damned, and started.
There were so many things I wanted to incorporate. I wanted a store because I was tired of big box "art" stores slowly turning into decor stores. Stickers were available in fewer spaces, and my kids loved stickering (me too). As a parent, I was tired of testing the few supplies available to kids and then being disappointed and frustrated right along with my kids. I wanted affordable supplies that would actually work. In the future I would love to hold classes, have a studio/retail space, and continue to expand my products.
My mission at Color Riot: I believe art belongs to everyone. I want to source products that are consistently reliable to help people of all ages lean into their cozy creativity.
As I lean into that more: No matter what age we are, we can try something new. No mistake in art is irreparable- there is nothing a creative doodle, new idea, or a fresh sheet of paper can't solve. I believe art with kids can be fun. I believe when you have high-quality art materials, you're engaged longer, and want to share the experience with others. This store is for everyone, every age, every ability. Art is for all! Try something new today and have fun- you don't have to be any good at it! Practice makes proficient.
